Sunset in the city

Things you can see from a plane 01

My dad had a serious car accident on Oct 24th (because of a certain moron in an off-road car). He’s in a hospital with a lot of broken bones (hip, ribs, sternum, elbow) and his lungs are damaged. He had both scheduled surgeries already, he was in an induced coma but now he is a bit better and breathing on his own. He’s in good hands, at one of the best hospitals in the area, but there are years of rehabilitation and healing ahead of him, that’s why I’ll use all the income from my deviantArt print shop to help with his healthcare (probably a chunk of my Etsy shop income as well). Christmas and Hanukkah are approaching, so please consider buying some of my stuff as gifts for your friends and families. Thanks!

I had to go to Poland for a week to help my mum with stuff, unfortunately I didn’t manage to talk to dad – they woke him up after I’ve gone back to Ireland. I’m hoping he will be able to use a phone soon.

The only good thing that came out of this all is that I got inspired while travelling on a plane, so there you go.

I was out of new photos and I didn’t want to post the worse ones, so I took a break. Now a weekend in Cork has resulted in a few acceptable shots, so there you go. I’m going to need to go there for a few days someday, wear better shoes and take more photos, I really liked the city.

The Green

I hate winter, I always have trouble adapting to short days and have absolutely no energy to do anything useful. So I thought I’d share something summery and vibrant, as a faint protest against all that. That’s the only thing I have enough energy to do now.

Under water

I wish I had taken a better photo, and I really missed a good opportunity here. Unfortunately I didn’t manage to catch this sea lion’s head, just its arse :( They’re too quick! I tried different angles after taking this shot, but then the boy went away. Blargh.
What I do like about this photo, though, is light (even though the sea lion’s arse is slightly overexposed), that’s why I decided to publish it anyway.

Pinhole experiments

I was going through my archives to see what I could post, and found this folder with a film scan from 2007, when I tried to experiment with a pinhole camera. I shot one film, scanned the negative, found the photos disappointing and moved on to digital photography.

Looking at these photos now, I find a whole new level of awesomeness about them. Not the careful-composition-perfect-exposure-eyestabbing-focus awesomeness, but rather cool-experiment-nice-atmosphere quality.

Yes, it’s a terribly blurry, badly overexposed photo with weird colours and random composition, scanned from an apparently damaged negative that I didn’t care to retouch. And I still think it’s cool.

Also, it shows my hometown, Wroclaw <3

Sentimental journey

When sometimes I wake up too suddenly to know where I am, my first thought is that I’m there. Crocheted lamp covers, huge window letting in a lot of light, brown and green, warm and sleepy. My grandma’s bedroom.
